Turkey is split into 7 regions. Each has its own distinct climate, landscape and traditions. The first four are named in relation to their adjacent seas (the Black Sea, the Marmara, the Aegean and the Mediterranean regions). The other three, are named in relation to their location in the whole of Anatolia (Central, Eastern and South East Anatolia regions).
Fethiye - is a lively Turkish town with a population of approximately 100,000. It is the perfect mix of an urban and ethnic life for the locals and tourist

Originally, Fethiye was known as Telmessos. Today, there are still traces of historical remains and an amphitheatre from the Lycian period.


There are around 37 boats that leave from the marina in Fethiye on a daily basis for 12 beautiful islands.
 

Scuba diving facilities are also available. There are approximately 5000 Europeans living permanentlly in the region.


It is a great place to haggle prices down on every purchase. Watch out !;  the first price is always, usually a 'tourist price'. It can be fun!


Approximately 698 traders from the region display and sell their goods and produce at the Tuesday and Friday markets in Fethiye and on Sundays at Calis market.
